Hey everybody... and welcome to Fit For the Masses. My name is Dan and I'm pretty much an average guy. I was never the best athlete, and I definitely won't be running a marathon anytime (too) soon. What I am is a doctor who knows the benefits of being fit and a guy who enjoys being in shape, working out, and trying new things. I've always struggled with the last 5 or so pounds, and with sticking to workout plans that bore me or just flat out suck.
This is a blog for regular people who want to get in shape, but don't have much experience with different methods of achieving this goal, or have tried things that have failed in the past. I will document my experience with fitness equipment, activities, and foods that you may never have tried. If you're enjoying the blog, but there are things that you want an average guy to try and explain, just email me and I'll try them myself or find someone who has.
My mantra is that you shouldn't lose weight, you should LIVE the weight you want to be. Life should be fun. That means you should enjoy your workouts, your meals, having fun with friends, and even those times when your clothes come off... at the beach or otherwise.
Use this blog for information, recreation, or even as a motivational tool. I plan to show you by using my own personal experience that there is no magic bullet, no pill, and no one plan that will get you where you're going. All success comes from the attitude that you can succeed. One slip up with a cupcake doesn't mean an end to your diet. When you make hundreds of food choices every day, there are always ways to make up for one unhealthy choice with lots of good ones.
Every day that I post, I'll document what I did to work out and even some of the really good (and really bad) things that I ate. I would love if you followed along with me and shared your experiences as well. If I can be in shape, YOU CAN TOO.
